Introduction



Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO)

The University Authority established the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) on October 28th, 2007 in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission Islamabad to provide financial help to the needy and deserving students of the University and to avail scholarships under various programs.

The Mission of the SFAO is:

• To provide prospective and enrolled students with information and resources to financially support their educational goals.
• To provide services in a timely, equitable and caring manner, with full support of the students and University employees.
• To provide you with several personalized online services and forms to assist you.
• To serve student body and provide financial assistance in the fairest and most efficient way possible.
• To help the students to build their educational career at GC University Faisalabad.

Financial Assistance/Scholarship

  1. Deserving students are given Allama Iqbal Merit/Sir Syed Merit Scholarship (full/half tuition fee) by the head of department. This scholarship is available for 05 % of the total number of students enrolled in a class.
    An application on prescribed form for the full/half tuition financial assistance/scholarship is to be submitted to the concerned department every semester supported by required documents according to the checklist and income certificate showing that the applicant can not afford to pay full tuition fee. After recommendations by the head of department, scholarships cases are forwarded to the Students’ Financial Aid Office for approval by the Competent Authority. The concession is subject to good conduct, regular attendance and satisfactory performance in studies and can be withdraw if the receipt fails to fulfill these requirements.
  2. When two or more brothers/sisters are studying, younger can be granted half concession in tuition fee as Kinship scholarship recommended by the Head of Department.
  3. Employee Educational Benefit Scheme for the wards of Govt. employees of education department is applicable with the condition that 100% concession in tuition fee for elder and 50 % for younger child according to the Form-B. Govt. employees of Education Department will be only of grade (1-16) and the said concession should not be applicable for higher grades.
  4. Scholarship for Financial Assistance to Hafiz-e-Quran is granted to the Hafiz-e-Quran.
    The concession is subject to good conduct (2.5 GPA), regular attendance (75%) and satisfactory performance in studies and can be withdraw if the receipt fails to fulfill these requirements.

Scholarships

Merit Scholarship by the Government, Kayla Gift Fund Trust, Punjab Zakat Department (MORA), District Council Internal Merit Scholarship , Chief Minister, Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal , Punjab Benevolent Fund Board, Fauji Foundation, Minority students Scholarship, University Position Holders and Other Private agencies are available in this University. The deserving Muslim Students will be able to get stipends from Provincial Zakat Fund. Interested students should get an eligibility proof from the head of department and submit the application to the Zakat and Usher Committee officer after getting it attested by Assistant Registrar/Incharge Students Financial Aid Office.
Government Internal Merit scholarship (Professional Education) in the subjects of Telecommunication and D-Pharmacy offered by the Director Public Instruction (Colleges) Punjab Lahore to fresh graduates.
Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) is an initiative of the Government of the Punjab under the leadership and patronage of Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab. It is established with the objective of providing scholarships/monetary assistance to talented and needy students.
Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, is also providing Need Based Scholarships like USAID for meritorious and needy students of Pharmacy and Bio-Informati1cs and Japanese Need Based Scholarships to the students of Basic Sciences and Social.

The Journey of GC University Faisalabad started in 1897 as a Municipal Middle School. it was housed in the building of the present Govt. College for Women Karkhana Bazar, Faisalabad, and was upgraded to High School in September 1905. In 1916, the provincial government took over the management of this institution and moved it to the present building. It became Intermediate College in 1924 and Degree College in October 1933 and a Postgraduate College in 1963.
The college had a great history of excellence. It produced renowned scholars and professionals and attracted distinguished professors to its ranks. The General  (Rtd) Khalid Maqbool, Ex. Governor of the Punjab, Dr M. Yaqoob, Ex. Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, renowned scientist Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed, Dr. Habib Ullah Jamal, Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology Texila, Air Marshal (Rtd.) Chhabra of Indian Air Force and renowned poet Noon Meem Rashid are some of the Leading figures it has produced.
The GC University Faisalabad has emerged as a leading centre of quality education and research in a short span of time. The University has developed strong linkage with all the segments of society. It caters  to the needs of the industry and market. The University has also become a hub of Social and cultural activities. The focus of the university is to produce competent professionals equipped with all the communication and managerial skills to lead the market and industry. The university inculcates critical and creative spirit among its students.




Vice Chancellor




Dr. Zakir Hussain
Prof Dr. Zakir Hussain took over as the vice chancellor of the GC University, Faisalabad on October 25, 2010. The new vice chancellor has worked in a large number of key positions in various national and international institutions over the past 30 years and has to his credit more than a hundred publications in various national and foreign journals. Addressing a gathering of the senior faculty members, teachers and elite of the city Dr. Hussain assured them of development and propagation of quality education as his first preference as the vice chancellor. He advocated the use of latest technologies including video conferencing to educate students of the university. He said that a technology park will be constructed at the Gat Wala campus of the university soon. He told the audience that the university would work jointly with the local and foreign donors through public private partnership to offset the prevailing paucity of funds. At the outset the proposition has been discussed with the US aid, he said. He stressed the principle of merit and assured the development of human resource through foreign faculty hiring and upbringing of local faculty. Later he addressed heads of departments who join the senior faculty members, teachers and the citizens in wishing Dr. Hussain all success.
